BREAKS lda.: Breaks

Hackney Parrot by Tessela is one of our favorite tracks this year at BREAKS lda. headquarters. And now the finnish brothers, Jack The Hustler, come delivering some goods in the form of a bootleg! Same feeling of the original. It's breaks, it's UK bass, it's futuristic beats…

Jack The Hustler consists of two electronic music producers from Finland. They both started out as drummers, but they found out that their passion laid somewhere else. Their new home was found in electronic music. They started producing in late 2009 and with endless studio hours they evolved their sound towards house music, the kind of house they wanted. “Hustlin House Music”.

Meanwhile don't forget to buy the original track here (Beatport)

501 | BEAT THE SYSTEM EP

501 .uk

Never Say Die Records

501 returns with his latest EP, Beat The System, via Never Say Die on 7 October 2013. To celebrate the upcoming release 501 has put together an insane mix that you can find here.

Says 501, “The EP, as everything I've ever written, revolves loosely around the theme of escaping. My mind seems to be wired in a way that I'm always dissatisfied with the current state of affairs and looking for ways to escape whatever situation life throws at me. To this end, music is my escape plan and I've always found soundtracks from 80’s movies to be excellent examples of music that encapsulate this. The subtle melancholy mixed with dramatic synth orchestrations just gets me every time. On the EP, tracks like ‘And It Begins’ and ‘Inside the Machine’ were written with just that in mind. ‘Beat The System’ on the other hand, is a simple statement against devoting your life to a meaningless job in a meaningless cubicle. Lastly, ‘Vulture’ is my first foray in to the nutty land of electro. The EP also puts an end to the longest lasting writers block I've experienced and I'm really glad I was able break into new grounds and include both a breaks and an electro workout in the package!”.

Check out four of the five tracks below.

Blunts 15 Days Of Fury!

"So i’ve been thinking about doing something like this for a while – mostly to kick my ass into finishing a bunch of shit thats been nearly or half done for a while, but to challenge myself as well. I saw yesterday that i’ve got 15 days until I go away to Thailand for a few weeks and also that i’m a few likes away from hitting 1500 fans on my Facebook Page. So I thought i’m gonna post a new audio track every day for the next 15 days. This means something that you’ve not heard before from me – be it a bootleg, edit, new tune, remix or a mixtape. Some will be given away, some will be previews of upcoming releases, some might be shit, but fuck it, it’s on." Philly Blunt

DJ ICEY | GET IT

DJ ICEY .us

Zone Records

Born and raised in Florida, DJ Icey has been mesmerized by electronic music ever since hearing the synthesizer breakdown on The Edgar Winter Group’s "Frankenstein." "My mom had that album and I would play that middle part over and over wondering how they made that sound,” Icey recounts. “I was little and thought it was so cool."

Rising to worldwide prominence out of the fertile Orlando Florida electronic music scene, Icey cut his teeth at the legendary EDGE nightclub, and even persuaded The Chemical Brothers to play their first show Stateside there.

Icey runs his Indie label, Zone Records, which is dedicated to the Breaks he loves. When vinyl ruled the DJ'ing landscape, Zone sold a hundred thousand pieces of wax up until the label went all digital in 2008. Zone Records release schedule is relentless and consistently garners Top 10 Beatport sales in Breaks. His label has expanded to include multiple musical genres in remix and original form.

Playing 100+ gigs per year, Icey is a touring maniac. But that doesn’t keep him out of the studio during the week working on new tracks for his indie imprint, constantly trying to push the envelope to make his fans sweat on the dance floor. Icey's live DJ shows are legendary and always include massive amounts of originals, remixes and re-rubs that are exclusive to his sets. The music is the output of his addiction to the recording studio.

Icey's remixes have garnered Top 5 placings on Hype Machine's Twitter Top 100 chart multiple times, most recently with his bass fueled re-working of Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Heads Will Roll." DJ Icey has produced a weekly satellite radio show in North America since 2006, first on Sirius's Boombox channel and currently on Sirius XM's Electric Area channel, entitled "Automatic Static." It is one of the most popular dance mix shows on satellite radio.

2011 saw DJ Icey release "Flash the Message," a 17 track album that includes 12 originals long side a handful of remix and re-rub action. The album combines the sounds and vibes of multi-genres, vocals and instrumentals, which are all expertly tied together with his renowned broken beat, bass heavy sound.
