CLASH OF THE DAMNED VOL.I

TROUBLE & BASS .us

Trouble & Bass

2012 was big for Brooklyn indie label Trouble & Bass. The crew celebrated their 6-year anniversary, toasted Drop the Limeʼs new album, and released 20 records that shot up the electronic and dance charts. As a final coda to this crazy apocalyptic year, T&B releases CLASH OF THE DAMNED VOL.1, a compilation full of topnotch international collaborations.

Further putting a stamp on the “heavy bass” genre the label pioneered, CLASH OF THE DAMNED is a riveting selection of 12 tracks spanning the gamut between house, dubstep, club music and rap — often all within the same tune. Artists from London, Portugal, Estonia, Finland and across the United States prove that dance music doesnʼt have to be predictable… all with the dark and cinematic flair that is T&Bʼs signature.

Big-room rave meets Jersey club on “RRR U”, a massive track from the super-team of Bert on Beats and DJ Sliink of Mad Decent and Body High fame. UK garage pioneer Zed Bias gets together with foundational dubstep producer MRK1 for a surprising pair of gangsterish electro-house bits, offset by tropical videogame madness from Lisbon duo Zombies for Money and their Hungarian pals Slap in the Bass. Some serious head nodders here as well: a dubby 808 track from Ursa Major vs. Elementz, an Atari Teenage Riot-inspired cult rap from Deathface with Lil Internet, and serious trap for your trunk from Ninja Tuneʼs Starkey with Parisʼ Mikix the Cat. Queen of heavy bass Star Eyes teams up with old friend UFO! on a Metalheadz-inspired dubstep stormer and a hyphy house hit, Dirtybird-style, while pounding cuts from Sharkslayer vs. Blaze Tripp and Willy Joy vs. Rob Threezy round out this huge sound clash.

SLAP IN THE BASS | NADA/GOMA EP

SLAP IN THE BASS .hu
No Brainer Records/Southern Fried Records

Our Hungarian favourites Slap In The Bass return from Egypt with two skillfully crafted future dance classics: 'Nada' employs strings, beats and bass to tear musical dimensions apart in the most beautiful way you can imagine. 'Goma' is a rather fierce beast. I heard it eats those who don't dance for breakfast.
On the remix we are proud to present to you: SCNTST (Boys Noize Records) who shows us why everybody's raving about him. The 17-year-old wunderkind makes 'Nada' into an opus dei, which took him about 4 hours - no joke. Wafa (Grizzly) delivers a deep acid soaked night dubb. He knows groove and tells us everything about it without saying anything. This one can be dropped before, after or during everything.
What's your favorite number? I bet after you hear his 'Nada' remix it'll be THE Eleven. Let this guy from Utrecht feed your high expectations with low bass and let him prove to you that millions of details can still sound sparse and on point. 'nada mas'

SLAP IN THE BASS | EGYPT

SLAP IN THE BASS .hu
No Brainer Records/Southern Fried Records

'This one's a real Slap In The Bass'

For their second release on No Brainer Records the Hungarian production duo takes us to 'Egypt'.
The title track is positively disturbing mixture of sound that paints a powerful picture of this country. Reading this you may ask yourself: Is he high? Not sure.

What I know for a fact is that I can hear Act Yo Age (Southern Fried) sitting in a café in Cairo smoking their shishas while some Eygptian funkateers have a little jam session going on.
Grahmzilla of Bassanovva (Grizzly) seems to be on some more potent substances. He just flew into Egypt from Mexico and is now hanging around in an arcade blasting off spaceships. Bang. Game over. Impressive skills.
I can see Hostage (Nightshifters) sitting in a taxi from the airport, stuck in traffic. But they are playing 'Popcorn' on the radio which seems to lighten up his mood to an extent he never experienced before.
'Pyramid' sees Slap In The Bass waking up the Pharaohs with an irresistible technoid tribal rhythm that resonates especially well inside geometric formations.
For the grande finale our heroes are teaming up with Canada's dernier cri Botnek (Discobelle). They take the party van following the Nile down to 'Kom Ombo'.

'If your dancefloor is a desert, this can be your oasis'

“Xhosa” gets the percussive treatment by Portugal's Zombies For Money (Trouble & Bass) who turn the African click sounds of the original into the lead instrument. To worldwiden it up they then drop some Arabic flavors in the breakdown.
