Plump DJs are arguably the wickedest confection to have oozed out from that veritable sweet-trolley-of-breaks imprint, Finger Lickin’ Records, and exactly a decade ago their super sized Eddie Bo-sampling platter "Funk Hits The Fan" not only did what it said on the menu, it sprayed across the dining room so damn hard it’s going to take another ten years and some serious pressure-steaming to get that sticky funk out. 

And on this special anniversary who better to serve up a fresh, new, completely unofficial-but-irresistible slice of 10th birthday cake than Finger Lickin’ co-founder (and the label’s second-naughtiest act, Soul of Man) Jem Panufnik, aka Jem Stone?! 

Stirring in a handful of wickedly rich and downright indulgent ingredients, Jem turns the oven down to 115 and serves up a deliciously deep, moist and fluffy gateaux-disco chugger with which the older, wiser (and almost definitely plumper) Lick fans will find plenty to stuff their fat faces, whilst the ones too young to worry about their figure can gorge on its sweet guitar licks and creamy bass with wild, careless abandon. If it ain’t good for ya, it’s good for ya, as the song famously goes.

This rolling synth lead organic journey, draws from the inspirational Geogio Moroder, Mike Oldfield and the Dust Brothers. Its’ contemporary form serves to firmly drive a stake through the heart of the dance floor...

The latest MOTW comes from Plump DJs and they've put together a cracking selection of twenty five tracks in a frenetic hour long mix.

With recent remix releases for the likes of Mark Ronson, Deadmau5 and Fenech Soler, the Plump DJs continue to be the avid pioneers of diverse electronic music they were when they first cut their teeth in the late 1990s. Heading up the new Grand Hotel imprint, their bass strong, drum heavy collaborations with the scene’s most promising protégés have seen airplay from the likes of Carl Cox, Crookers, Zinc and Annie Nightingale.
