Things have been a bit quiet on the release front from drum & bass legend Photek in recent years but he's ready to make a return in 2011.
"Since my last release I've been constantly working on new material, but it never seemed like the right moment to unleash it until now," says Photek. "The early feedback and support has been incredible - I can't wait to get out there and drop the next chapter. "
Benji B's recent Radio 1 show featured no less than three new Photek tracks: Avalanche, 101 and This City. The tracks range from dubstep to minimal electro to 140 bpm house.
"It seems like things have come full circle since the warehouse days of '88 where it was less about genres and more about what feels right," states Photek. "The more that artists abandon the tempo restrictions that come with genre, the more exciting music will become. It's part of a good DJ to figure out how to piece it all together – so I'll leave it up to them to figure that part out!
Avalanche is also the name of Photek's new EP, which is set for release on February 28th 2011 and you can download a track from the EP, Slowburn, below. Also look out for forthcoming Photek remixes of Ray La Montagne and Jagga and a brand new live show in 2011. (as you can read @
